Picked up my mileage in June. Got up to 2-3 miles a day. A friend made the point to me that running for less than 20 minutes really didn't do you much good. Long story short, the thought is that you don't burn enough calories to get to the stored fat. Yeah yeah yeah, I know the deal. That wasn't breaking news to me. I had a lot of success while doing less than 20 minutes a day, but I figured why not give it a try anyway. It became that much more of a release for me, and my weight loss got kicked back into gear.
Michelle went out with me twice and started going a couple times a week by herself. He second time with me was for 1.7 miles. I was so proud her. I knew she could do it. I just got her to take it slow and keep stepping. She did great.
End of June 08 Review
My buddy Kevin, told me he was following the training for a mini-marathon. I told him if he'd register for the corresponding event, that I would join him. Well, he's registering and I'm not in shape for 13 miles. I went out for 8.33 yesterday. My breathing was fine and I'm not really sore at all today. My legs did however, get pretty tired. I felt them begin to drag. Needless to say, I've got some training to do before mid-March. I know I'll get through it, but I don't want the race officials to have to help me across the finish line.
I believe today was day 410.
We had a pretty good snow storm a couple weeks ago. We ended up with 6 or 7 inches of snow and 1/2 an inch of ice in the middle. Local schools were out all week. It was bitterly cold. I broke down and ran inside on a neighbors treadmill. I've got nothing against treadmills, but since I don't have one, I try not to impose. I actually ran in that snow for almost everyday that it was here, but while it's still been cold, I've used it 4 or 5 times. It's pretty easy to get spoiled running on a treadmill that has CABLE!!!!
