Journal Review - May 08

I crossed days 130 and 150 in May. One third of the year gone.

I also ran in my very first race. It was the Kicks For Kids River Run. It started in Newport KY, went across the river into Cincinnati, and back to Newport. To see 1200 people take off at once was pretty cool. Of course, I took off way to fast. I backed off though and found a little better pace. My goal was to finish it at 27 minutes or better. According to my watch, I did it in 26:55.

A friend dropped off his two girls at my house with my wife and ran with me. Thanks Mike!

By this point I had also lost 25'ish lbs and was feeling pretty good.

End of May 08 Review

Good news. I found someone to build my site for One Mile Per Day. It probably won't be up until late spring or early summer. I should probably talk to the school I want to approach and start lining things up for the 2009 - 2010 school year. I'm sure they'll have some input. I plan on starting this with either River Ridge Elementary in Villa Hills KY or Turkeyfoot Middle School in Edgewood KY.

I haven't mentioned this, but a neighbor of mine ran everyday with me last year. We hardly ever ran together but he kept his streak alive. He quit two days ago. He enjoyed it, but he has a pretty hectic schedule. He lasted 385 days. I wish he had kept running, but it's no big deal. It did a great deal of good for him. I think he'll stay active, just not in the form of a running streak.

I know a handfull of people have gotten out on the road after talking with me, but past my neighbor, I don't know of anyone who has started another streak I was contatcted by OrtingRunner who follows this blog. He said he was going to start a streak, but I never heard back from him if he actually started. Ortingrunner, I hope you got out and started!

Though most of January 09 has been bitterly cold, I've gotten some extra mileage in almost everyday. I'll probably do more than 2 times what I ran in December.

Goodbye for now.
